6 Tips for washing your car

1. Use a microfiber mitt

Rather than washing your car with a regular sponge, which can scratch your car paint, it’s best to use a microfiber mitt, which is able to lift and trap dirt and grime more efficiently.

2. Find the right soap

Did you know they make soap specifically for washing cars? Some car soaps even have small amounts of synthetic wax, which helps fill in those tiny scratches and leave your car looking shiny and new.

3. Use an additional bucket for rinsing your mitt

When you want to rinse your mitt, don’t stick it back in your soap bucket. Instead, get a different bucket full of water for rinsing your mitt.

4. Rinse with a hose and dry

Rather than pour out the filthy bucket of water on your car when you’re finished, use a hose to rinse the soap off. Then finish by using a microfiber towel to dry.

5. Use low water pressure

It’s best to use a nozzle on the end of your hose so you are able to control the amount of water, but be careful not to blast the water too hard. A fine mist works very well to effectively rinse your car.

6. Wash in the shade or on a cloudy day

The sun heats your car very quickly, and thus causes the water to evaporate too quickly. In order to avoid spots, try washing your car on a cloudy day or in the shade. That way, it should still be wet enough when you are ready to dry.
