It’s hockey season here in Edmonton and that means it’s time for all of our local youngsters to play for their respective PeeWee Hockey teams.
Throughout the month, the children in our communities have been lacing up and hitting the ice for practices and games against other teams from around the area. As many of you may know, PeeWee Hockey tends to get expensive for parents, and many teams rely solely on either donations, or money from the parents in order to get practice jerseys, reserve ice time, and more.

Strathcona Minor Hockey
One of the teams that we’ll be sponsoring this year is the Warriors of the Strathcona Minor Hockey league. The Warriors are a PeeWee 2 hockey team with players ranging from 11 to 13 years of age. For some players on the Warriors, as well as some players on other teams, this is their first taste of minor hockey. By helping the team out, we’re hoping to provide the kids with a great hockey experience to help further their young careers. Even if they don’t go on to play for the Oilers down the road, being part of a hockey team teaches kids valuable life lessons like how to work towards a common goal.
Sherwood Park Minor Hockey
The other team that we’re proud to sponsor is the Sherwood Park Huskies. Part of the Edmonton Minor Hockey Association League, the Huskies and the rest of the league play a large part in ensuring inclusivity in minor hockey. Anyone who wants to play will be given a chance. We all remember a time when all we wanted was a chance, and the Huskies are there to give the children in our community that chance on the ice. The Huskies are coached by some amazing and dedicated parent volunteers, who also help to fund the team’s expenses.
Because we love being involved with our community, sponsoring our area’s minor hockey teams is something we look forward to every year. We can all look back at how being part of a sports team has changed our lives for the better and has taught us valuable life lessons. We want to help make sure every young person in our community has a chance to be a part of the team and have those experiences themselves.
