Four other sustainable materials used in Ford vehicles 

Olive trees are just one of many cool projects Ford worked on to repurpose materials. Here are four other sustainable materials used in Ford auto parts: 

• Soybeans: Ford created the industry-first soybean-based foam seats and headrests in the 2008 Ford Mustang. Since 2011, all Ford models built in North America have used this material, repurposing half a trillion soybeans in over a decade. 
• Yogurt cups: The Ford Mustang Mach-E frunk insert uses recycled yogurt cups and other post-consumer recycled materials. This is part of a project to reach carbon neutrality by 2050. 
• Recycled ocean plastic: The Ford Bronco Sport wiring harness clips are made with recycled ocean plastic. Collecting these discarded fishing nets helps save marine life and clean our oceans. 
• Water bottles: Recycled plastic bottles helped produce lightweight underbody shields on the 2020 Ford Escape.
