Why does charging an electric vehicle take longer than filling up a gas-powered model?<\/span> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Currently, it takes longer to charge an electric vehicle than it does to fill up a gas-powered model. As Ford explains in its recent press release<\/a>, this is due to the risk of overheating with electric charging. For this reason, it has to be done at a slower pace. However, with the liquid cooling technology that researchers of Ford and Purdue University are developing, the risk of overheating could be mediated. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

When will fast-charging cables be available for Ford vehicles?<\/span> <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ford states that fast-charging cables won\u2019t be available for \u201csome time,\u201d which doesn\u2019t give us a specific date to look forward to. What we do know is that electric vehicles usually come with a charging cord that can be used at home for a full overnight charge, a convenience for many drivers who leave their vehicles in a garage overnight. Faster charging stations are available, although they can\u2019t compete with gas stations just yet in terms of the amount of time taken.  <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
