2018 Edge Performance

The 2018 Ford Edge SEL is powered by a 2.0L Twin-Scroll EcoBoost® engine which has been given numerous technologies that allow it to optimize both power and efficiency. This engine features an integrated exhaust manifold that has been optimized for the twin-scroll setup, as well as an active oil control system. In addition, a high-pressure, direct-injection fuel system is able to deliver the exact amount of fuel needed in order to curb wasted fuel. Not just efficient, this beast of an engine cranks out up to 245 horsepower and an eye-popping 275 lb-ft of torque.

In order to help your Edge SEL go, the available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system is able to constantly monitor both the road conditions and the amount of traction your tires are getting. When the system detects that one of your tires is beginning to slip, it will automatically transfer torque from other tires in order to combat this, and keep your Edge SEL from sliding off the road. Another feature keeping your Edge SEL going is the Curve Control feature. This feature can detect when you're going into a curve too fast, and can slow down your engine speed to keep all four wheels on the road.

2018 Edge SEL Technology

In addition to its powerful and efficient engine, the 2018 Edge SEL also comes with a host of available technologies that have been designed to make your driving experience more convenient and safe. Take the Blind Spot Information System, BLIS®, for example. Sensors located along the side panels of the Edge will scan the area and keep a look out for any vehicles that are entering into one of your blind spots. When the system detects another vehicle is in an area that you might not be able to see, it will automatically illuminate a warning light on your side-view mirror.

Another available technology on the 2018 Edge SEL is the Lane Departure Warning system. Much like the Blind Spot Information System, this feature utilizes a sensor to monitor the are around your Edge SEL. This time, however, the sensors are able to read the markings on the road in order to determine your exact position within your lane. When the system detects that you are beginning to unintentionally veer out of your lane, it will send you warning signals in order to get your attention and get you back into the correct position. When you want to change lanes, just use your turn signal.
