Being that the weather here in Edmonton is prone to get cold earlier in the day, it\u2019s in your best interest to head out before the sun starts to go down. Most Edmonton residents will\u00a0<\/span>open up<\/span>\u00a0their doors for trick or treating around\u00a0<\/span>5:30 pm<\/span><\/b>, and end things around<\/span>\u00a09 pm.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0It goes without saying that three and a half hours is more than enough time for your kids to load up on all the candy and sweets that they want!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s not exclusive to Edmonton by any means, but a good telltale factor that someone is passing out candy is either a well-lit house or a lit pumpkin decoration on the front porch. Speaking of which, while Halloween can be fun, it can also be dangerous with the amount of people that are out and about. So, we\u2019ve come up with a couple safety tips you can utilize to make sure your kids are all good:\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Have a Planned Route<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

If your kids are old enough to venture out for Halloween alone, absolutely make sure that they stick to a couple\u00a0<\/span>neighbourhoods<\/span>\u00a0close to your house. You never want to get a call from them saying they don\u2019t know where they are. Also, it should go without saying, but young children should never go out trick or treating without a parent or guardian present.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Don\u2019t Go\u00a0<\/span>into<\/span>\u00a0the Street<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

There are a lot of people that take part in trick or treating every year, but every\u00a0<\/span>neighbourhood<\/span>\u00a0will still have people driving through the streets to get back home. If you can help it, stay in a group to cross the streets, and never go out there by yourself.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Visit High Traffic Areas<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

For any reason, if you\u2019re uncomfortable taking your kids out on the town, there are a lot of gathering\u00a0<\/span>centres<\/span>\u00a0that you can visit for the same fun experience. West Edmonton Mall, Bonnie\u00a0<\/span>Doon<\/span>\u00a0Centre, and many more locales around Edmonton will usually have some form of trick or treating, so check them out instead if you want!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
