What is a virtual run?<\/span> <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A virtual run is one that you sign up for, but you get to run on your own time in your own location. You\u2019ll still receive the usual <\/span>merchandise,<\/span> and your money will go to a good cause. Virtual races help keep people socially distant.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you can imagine, most races will be virtual this year, but that doesn\u2019t mean that you can\u2019t enjoy it with friends and have a great time. There are still a few in-person races as well with adjustments for your safety. May 29, 2021 \u2013 Rise Up Challenge 2021: Day Shift <\/a><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The great thing about this race is it takes place in Alberta\u2019s wilderness. Unlike previous years, there won\u2019t be any obstacles. That’s to prevent contact this year. However, you\u2019ll now be able to run, ruck, or bike the course as you please.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

June 12-13, 2021 \u2013 Survivorfest Run Events <\/a><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This virtual event is to be run on a 400m track of your choice. The race helps to fundraise and raise awareness for your local sexual assault <\/span>centre<\/span>. <\/span>While it is virtual this year, it should be returning to an in-person even in 2022, if that is your preference. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

June 28 \u2013 July 4, 2021 \u2013 Virtual Canada Day Fun Run 2021 <\/a><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

All participants will receive a limited-edition Canada Swag Pack and a Finisher\u2019s Medal. The cost of this run goes towards supporting the Canadian Cancer Society. <\/span>Runners are encouraged to fundraise for the event.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

July 8-11, 2021 \u2013 Mizuno Virtual Midsummer 5K <\/a><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The fastest three men and three women to complete this course will be offered cash prizes. To compete, you must use GPS tracking to record your time. Runners will also receive a free pair of shoes and sunglasses.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

August 15-31, 2021 \u2013 Servus Edmonton Marathon <\/a><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This virtual run provides runners with a race kit<\/span> with a New Balance athletic jacket. There are a variety of distances to choose from. Participants are encouraged to share their pictures of the race on social media<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

October 2, 2021 \u2013 Rise Up Challenger 2021: Night Shift <\/a><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This is the counterpart to the first run on our list, the Day Shift run. This challenging course is also in the wilderness. If you do both runs<\/span>, you\u2019ll be able to see how you improved your time over the summer. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

October 3, 2021 \u2013 First Responders Half Marathon <\/a><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This race features chip timing with live event updates. Participants will receive an entry pack and the eligibility to <\/span>be in a drawing for more prizes. The fastest running teams will also win prizes. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
