Last month, we were able to get our first look at what the Ford model line is cooking up for the 2020 model year. Among its new lineup is an energetic, high-adrenaline piece of sports car engineering that’s set to reinvent how we look at the industry as a whole. So, today, we’re excited to be able to share the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 engine specs and top speed; come in and see what this upcoming icon will be able to accomplish whenever you press the gas!
It’s really uncanny how we’ve come to expect so much out of the Mustang family, yet Ford still finds a way to go above and beyond. With a supercharged aluminum-alloy 5.2-litre V8 engine under the hood (which promises to produce 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque), the 2020 Shelby GT500 is set up to be one of the most power-dense models ever to come out of Detroit, and the undisputed fastest, most venomous production car in the Ford line.
To sweeten the deal, the 2020 Shelby GT500 will feature a 7-speed Dual-Clutch automatic transmission with Launch Control, which means that its drivetrain is accessible for any breed of driver, whether you’re a novice or experienced adrenaline junkie.
Of course, all this strength (harnessed through one of the smoothest transmissions on the market, mind you) means that the Shelby GT500 is able to race faster than most of its competitors. It boasts a 0-100 km time in the mid-three second range, and a full quarter-mile (around 0.4 km) time of below 11 seconds. Both of these numbers mean the same thing – the Shelby GT500 is something you have to experience to believe.
