COMING FOR 2027 • MUSTANG DARK HORSE SC CONVERTIBLE
New Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC Convertible Lets the Sun In and 795 Horses Out!
A supercharged 5.2-litre V8, 795 horsepower, seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and an open roof create the most powerful open-air Mustang yet.
Ford is taking the 795-horsepower Dark Horse SC formula and dropping the roof, combining Ford Racing engineering, supercharged V8 performance and the unmistakable experience of open-air driving.
The 2027 Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC Convertible brings a new personality to the Dark Horse family. While the Dark Horse SC Coupe is the race-bred side of the equation, engineered with serious track capability in mind, the Convertible is aimed squarely at drivers who want head-turning style, instant supercharged power and zero barriers between themselves and the road.
Drop the roof at the touch of a button and the experience changes completely. The cabin opens to the sky while the soundtrack becomes a mix of deep V8 rumble, rapid-fire gear changes and the distinctive whine of a supercharger.
795 Horsepower With Unlimited Headroom
The defining feature is obvious. Push a button, lower the roof and suddenly there is nothing separating you from the sound of a supercharged 5.2-litre V8.
The Dark Horse SC Convertible produces 795 horsepower and 660 lb.-ft. of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission for rapid shifts and near-effortless acceleration.
Supercharged V8, Roof Down
With no steel roof isolating the cabin, the V8 exhaust note and supercharger whine become a much bigger part of the experience. For drivers who believe the soundtrack is half the fun of owning a V8 Mustang, the Dark Horse SC Convertible makes a compelling argument.
Engineered for More Than Straight-Line Speed
Putting nearly 800 horsepower into a convertible requires more engineering than simply removing the roof from a coupe.
Starting with the architecture of the Mustang GT 5.0-litre V8 convertible, Ford Racing engineers added a strong, lightweight magnesium tower-to-tower brace across the engine compartment to help the chassis manage the output of the Dark Horse SC’s supercharged 5.2-litre V8.
Next-Generation MagneRide
The Dark Horse SC Convertible receives a specially tuned next-generation MagneRide suspension. The goal is a genuine dual personality: smooth and comfortable while cruising, but firmly planted when the driver starts asking more of the car.
- ✓ Next-generation MagneRide suspension
- ✓ Convertible-specific performance tuning
- ✓ Magnesium tower-to-tower brace
- ✓ 795-horsepower supercharged V8
- ✓ Seven-speed dual-clutch transmission
This Isn’t the Regular Dark Horse With a Supercharger
The SC badge represents considerably more than an extra letter. The Dark Horse SC moves to a 5.2-litre supercharged V8 producing 795 horsepower and 660 lb.-ft. of torque and pairs it with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The engine, transmission, suspension and chassis changes work together as a performance package. This isn’t simply a Dark Horse with a supercharger bolted on. It represents another level in the Mustang performance hierarchy.
Precision Purple Makes Its Debut
Ford is giving the Convertible its own visual identity with a striking new exterior colour: Precision Purple.
The Convertible also introduces a unique Brembo brake caliper colour, while premium interior treatments will be available in Black Onyx and Space Gray.
A Different Kind of High-Performance Mustang
The modern Mustang performance family has become remarkably broad. The Convertible adds something especially simple to that formula:
That’s its reason for existing.
The Soundtrack Might Be the Best Part
Numbers inevitably dominate the conversation around cars like this: 795 horsepower, 660 lb.-ft., 5.2 litres and seven speeds.
But there is another number that may matter just as much: zero. As in zero roof between the driver and the sound of that supercharged V8. The exhaust note is more immediate, the supercharger whine is more apparent and even sounds reflected from buildings and tunnels become part of the experience.
