For over four years the Ford F-150 has been “Built Tough” to take on any job or project. Well for its upcoming model year, the pickup has been overhauled to provide even more durable and functional features to drivers. Its exterior has received twelve new design tweaks and refinements, all with the purpose of better serving the needs of pickup drivers.
“We call our F-Series customers ‘bold guardians of the brand,’” says Ford truck design chief Gordon Platto. “These customers know our Built Ford Tough DNA, and they want their trucks to convey strength, capability, boldness and power – without being ‘in your face’ aggressive.”

When Ford talks about their new billet-milled design for the new lineup, it refers to the way in which the components of the vehicle are formed. Traditional methods used aluminum stamping where aluminum in liquid form was poured into molds. Conversely, billet-milled production chisels the piece out of a solid aluminum block, therefore, preserving the integrity of the material and creating more precise structures.
