Towing in the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is made easy with Intelligent Range and Power My Trip. Check out this video to see how these features work together to help you tow a trailer. You’ll also learn about the maximum towing capacity of the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning.

What information does Intelligent Range consider?

The Intelligent Range system in your truck uses information such as traffic speed, temperature, available battery energy, driver habits, climate control use, and route topography to calculate how many more miles you can drive before needing to recharge your truck. This is a great way to get an accurate sense of your available driving range, rather than relying on guesswork or clumsy estimates. The system will help ensure that you can plan accordingly and not end up stranded somewhere.

Can Intelligent Range work while towing something?

Yes, Intelligent Range can also work while you’re towing something. It can sample towing situations to refine its calculations. It’s an automatic process, so you don’t have to worry about doing anything. The video above talks more about how Intelligent Range can use data to get better at predicting your truck’s driving range. It can also its Onboard Scales feature to calculate the weight you’re taking with you.

“Whether you’re towing with a gas-powered or electric truck, range degradation as a percentage is basically the same – determined primarily by overall cargo and trailer weight at low speeds and by the aerodynamic profile at higher speeds. That’s why we expanded the capabilities of Intelligent Range on the F-150 Lightning with the available Onboard scales to also measure the load effects of trailers and cargo to further refine range calculations when towing.”
