How to check the oil level in your Ford vehicle

When you’re on the road, there are plenty of components that go into making your Ford model operate at peak performance always. Perhaps the most well-known of these is your oil, which helps to lubricate your engine and gears, keeping you moving forward more smoothly and responsively. It’s for this reason that it’s important to understand how to check the oil level in your Ford vehicle; even though most modern models will give you a rough estimate, it’s crucial to know where you stand. We’ll show you how today!

Steps for keeping tabs on your Ford model’s oil level

If you’re concerned about the longevity of your Ford model’s oil, fear not! Synthetic compositions of today can take you between 9,500-17,000 kilometres before you need to switch them out for a fresh supply. In between, however, we’ve put together some steps for you to better understand where your oil is at:

  1. Open your Ford vehicle’s hood; you should notice its dipstick with either an orange or yellow handle. Take it out of its holster.
  2. Take a paper towel or microfibre rag and wipe off the excess oil from your dipstick, then place it back in its holster. This will let you get a more accurate reading.
  3. Wait a few seconds for oil to collect on your dipstick and pull it back out.

Your dipstick has grooves at the opposite end of its handle that acts as a gauge. A general rule of thumb that you should keep in mind is that if your oil reading is less than halfway down your dipstick, it might be time to get it changed.
