How to set up and connect to your Ford vehicle’s Wi-Fi Hotspot

In today’s interconnected and fast-moving world, it’s becoming more and more evident that life isn’t going to slow down anytime soon, especially when your line of work is one that generally requires you to be online. That’s why many vehicle manufacturers today have taken notice and introduced built-in internet in their vehicles, one of them being Ford. With SYNC® Connect technology, you can pair up your smartphone, tablet or laptop for blazing online speeds right from the comfort of your Ford model’s cabin – first, however, you’ll want to make sure that everything is ready to go. So, if you’re wondering how to set up and connect to your Ford vehicle’s Wi-Fi hotspot, check out the quick and easy steps with Sherwood Ford today!

How to activate the Wi-Fi hotspot function in your Ford model

SYNC Connect with WI-FI hotspot capability allows passengers to stream music, or a movie, and connect to social media or work while on the go. But first, to get your Wi-Fi hotspot activated, you’ll first want to be sure that your vehicle is turned on – then, direct your attention to your SYNC® touchscreen, locate the “Wi-Fi & Hotspot” menu, and follow these steps:

  1. Verify that your Wi-Fi hotspot is on and recognizable by pressing the “Toggle” button to On.
  2. You’ll see an SSID appear in the “Settings” tab – take note of this, as you’ll need it to connect to the hotspot from your device.
  3. In the bottom center of your touchscreen, press the “Edit” button and be sure that “Wi-Fi Visibility” is toggled to the “On” position.

How to connect your device to SYNC® Connect Wi-Fi

Now that your Wi-Fi hotspot is ready to go, check out the steps for connecting below:

  1. This will vary by device, but you’ll want to make certain that your Wi-Fi settings are on and ready to pair.
  2. In your device’s Wi-Fi menu, click on or press the SSID that has been provided to you, and then input your password – the default password should be provided to you on your touchscreen.
  3. Press the “Join” button and wait for a few seconds while pairing occurs. You should receive a confirmation that you’re online once this is completed.

As soon as you get setup, you’ll want to verify your connection by visiting Ford.ca on your device’s browser and setting up your AT&T data plan for Canada if you do not have one. If you do, this is where you’ll receive confirmation that you’re ready to stream! Got questions, call customer support at 1 (866) 595-0191. By the way, your eligible connected Ford vehicle includes a complimentary 3 month or 3GB data plan through AT&T!
