Since technology is constantly evolving, automakers are under pressure to develop new tech features with each model year. Ford has had no problem rolling out new and improved elements year after year, continuing to set the bar higher and higher for competitors. As the most technologically advanced midsize Ford car to ever be available in North America, the 2017 Ford Fusion offers several new technology features designed to transform the driving experience as we know it.
Ford’s new communications and entertainment system, SYNC 3, offers a wide array of new and enhanced elements. For starters, it is designed to work faster than ever before, and its touch screen and interface have been edited to be more intuitive and easy-to-use. SYNC 3 voice recognition has also been improved to be more conversational and user-friendly. Additionally, the enhanced infotainment system offers optional SYNC Connect, which gives drivers the ability to use their smartphone for remote starts, scheduled starts, and locking or unlocking the Fusion.

In addition to the new and improved SYNC 3 system, the 2017 Ford Fusion also offers a few other high-tech elements, such as pedestrian detection, parking assistance, pothole detection, Lane-Keeping System, and Blind Spot Information System.
The Ford Fusion is the first car in North America to offer a pedestrian detection system, which utilizes sensors to alert you if a pedestrian enters your path. The system can also engage the brakes if necessary.
With the Fusion’s available hands-free parallel and perpendicular parking capability, you can easily maneuver into parking spaces by controlling only the gas, brakes, and shifting.
The 2017 Fusion offers pothole detection technology, which is able to sense approaching potholes and adjust shock absorbers to reduce the severity of the impact on passengers.
The Fusion’s lane-keeping assist technology uses a small, forward-facing camera behind the rearview mirror to monitor the road ahead and ensure you are on course. If the system senses unintentional drifting from your lane, it warns you with steering wheel vibrations.
The Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert utilizes sensors in the Fusion’s rear quarter-panels to detect traffic in your blind spots, including behind you when you are backing out of a parking space or driveway. The system provides both audible and visual warnings.
