Keep reading below to learn more. Sherwood Ford in Sherwood Park is your dealership for Ford F-150 trucks in the Edmonton area.

How much power can the Ford Intelligent Backup Power provide?

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning has the ability to offload 9.6 kW of power. To give you an idea of how much that is, a fridge uses between one and two kW of power over the course of an entire day. It is enough power to use your most important appliances, keep your food cold, and provide some climate control in your home when the power goes out.

How long can the 2022 Ford F-150 truck power your house for?

Ultimately, the most applicable use of the Ford Intelligent Backup Power feature is to power your house during an outage. Most outages occur over a short period of time, but sometimes, you may be worried about losing power for multiple days. Ford says that this feature of the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning truck can power a house for up to three days normally or up to ten days if power is rationed. Those ratings are based on the 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro with a home management system using an average of 30kWh per day with an extended-range battery.

“Whether sheltering during a storm or trying to stay safe in a heatwave, customers can now use their truck to give themselves power when they need it most.”

Ryan O’Gorman, electric vehicle manager, Strategic Partnerships

Ford said in a recent press release that it will introduce Ford Intelligent Power in the future. This concept feature uses the charge station and the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning to power your house, just like Ford Intelligent Backup Power, but in this case, it will be used to lower electricity costs and take pressure off the grid during peak usage periods such as during the middle of the day.
