The Ford 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine won the best small engine award at the International Engine Awards in the summer of 2016. The small, but powerful engine was praised for its drivability, fuel-economy, and performance capability.

The 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine has been used on the EcoBoost during production in India to great success! The 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine delivers very capable 18.9 kilometres per litre while emitting 126 kg/km of carbon dioxide (which is quite eco-friendly).

Named the “Best Engine Under 1.0-litre” by a panel of 65 automotive journalists from 31 different countries, this EcoBoost engine has been put through its paces for the North American market.

The engine was developed to serve Asian countries that demand affordability and efficiency from their engines. This EcoBoost engine has to be able to deliver even with a small footprint. How does the small footprint of the Ford EcoSport translate to the wide open spaces of Canada? Easy!
