Steps to flat-towing your Ford F-150 truck

  1. Start your Ford F-150 truck. 
  2. Press the 2H button on the four-wheel drive mode control. 
  3. Push and hold the brake pedal and shift the transmission to neutral. 
  4. Press the stop-start button once or use your key to turn off your vehicle. 
  5. With your foot off the brake pedal, press the start-stop button once to switch your vehicle to accessory mode or turn the key to the on position. 
  6. Press and hold the brake pedal. 
  7. Press “Menu” on the steering wheel. 
  8. Scroll to settings and select “Neutral Tow.” 
  9. Press and hold the “OK” button until the screen shows a message confirming that neutral tow is enabled.  
  10. Release the brake pedal. 
  11. Leave your vehicle in neutral and switch off your vehicle once by pressing the start-stop button. 
  12. For vehicles with a key, do not turn the ignition all the way to the off position. You must leave the key in the ignition while towing. 
  13. Use the keyless entry keypad or an extra set of keys to lock and unlock your truck. 
  14. Now you’re ready to tow your vehicle.
