How To Use Wireless Phone Charging with Ford Vehicles video by Sherwood Ford

Can I charge my phone with wireless charging when my Ford vehicle is off?

Yes, you can still use the wireless charging pad when your Ford vehicle is not running. To do so, simply turn on Accessory Mode in your Ford vehicle. This will supply power to certain features like the wireless charging pad while keeping the engine off.

How do I use the wireless charging pad in a Ford SUV?

Here are the steps to using the wireless charging pad to charge a device in your Ford vehicle. As you’ll see, the process is simple and easier than using a cord. Just do the following:

  • Remove any coins or metal from the wireless charging pad.
  • Turn on your Ford vehicle OR turn on accessory mode.
  • Place your compatible device screen-side up on the wireless charging pad.
  • The pad automatically senses compatible devices and begins to charge them.

Why isn’t the wireless charging pad in my Ford vehicle working?

There are a few common issues that may lead you to believe that you have a faulty wireless charging pad. Be sure to check these first. Hopefully, you will find your problem.

  • Not every Ford model is equipped with a wireless charging pad. Of those that are, not every trim level will have one either. It is easy to confuse a tray with a wireless charging pad.
  • Not all devices are compatible with wireless charging pads. The device needs the built-in capability to work with wireless charging.
  • Some phone cases interfere with wireless charging. Try charging your device without its case.
  • The rate of charging will depend on the device, because this varies, it may sometimes seem like the wireless charging pad isn’t working as it normally would.
