How powerful is the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD?

2025 Ford Mustang GTD HP and torque

The question on every performance enthusiast’s mind is: How powerful is the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD? With a focus on race-ready engineering and elite track capability, the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD takes this legendary nameplate to the highest level of performance Ford has ever offered in a street-legal Mustang. At Sherwood Ford in Sherwood Park, AB, we’re taking a deep dive into the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD HP and torque ratings, engine specs, and top-speed capabilities that make this car a track-dominating supercar.

2025 Ford Mustang GTD Engine and Power Ratings

The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD is equipped with a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, a variant of the powerplant found in the Mustang Shelby GT500—only this time, it’s been tuned for even more ferocity. The GTD delivers 815 horsepower, making it the most powerful Mustang ever built for the street. The torque for this engine is rated at 664 pound-feet.

Paired with an eight-speed rear-mounted transaxle, this configuration contributes to near 50/50 weight distribution. A dry-sump oil system keeps the engine lubricated even during high-G cornering, while advanced aerodynamics and a semi-active suspension system keep the GTD glued to the pavement. This car doesn’t just look like a race car—it drives like one, too.

Top Speed and Nürburgring Lap Goals

Ford has stated that the Mustang GTD is engineered to compete with the world’s top track cars, including some of the fastest supercars from Europe. With a top speed of 325 kph (202 mph), the Mustang GTD is built to thrive on circuits like Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Watch the video below to see the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD in action on the Nürburgring, one of the most demanding racetracks in the world. This is more than a muscle car—this is Mustang performance taken to the edge.
