What is the Ford Exit Warning safety system?

Your Ford vehicle can help keep cyclists safe

Ford is launching an innovative driver assistance feature called Exit Warning in its all-new 2024 Ford Mustang® models this summer. This cutting-edge technology protects vulnerable road users, such as cyclists, scooter riders, and pedestrians. Keep reading below to learn how, and visit Sherwood Ford for the latest Ford models and tech in Sherwood Park, AB.

When is Exit Warning active?

Exit Warning is designed to operate when the car is in park, using radar located at the rear of the vehicle to detect vulnerable road users moving at a minimum speed of 4 miles per hour, roughly equivalent to one-third of the average speed of a cyclist.

How does Exit Warning work?

Once a vulnerable road user is identified approaching the Mustang, the Exit Warning system springs into action, employing both audio and visual alerts to warn the driver. These alerts are delivered via Ford SYNC, the vehicle’s instrument cluster, and the side mirror, informing the driver about the potential risk before opening the door.

Does Exit Warning work when the vehicle is turned off?

Notably, the feature continues to function after the ignition is turned off. It remains active for up to 3 minutes, providing continuous audio and visual alerts on the instrument cluster and touch screen.

When are cycling accidents most common?

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), cycling accidents are most prevalent between June and September, emphasizing the necessity for increased safety measures.

Ford Exit Warning is coming to the 2024 Ford Mustang

The 2024 Ford Mustang will not only be a powerful and stylish vehicle but also a safer one, thanks to this innovative driver assistance feature. By leveraging advanced radar and intelligent alerts, the 2024 Mustang will foster a safer and more responsible driving experience.
