New 2018 Ford Mustang engine options

The 2018 Mustang is ushering out the 3.7-litre V6 engine and welcoming the 2.3-litre EcoBoost® four-cylinder engine that provides significant performance advantages. Ford’s transient overboost technology has been calibrated specifically for the Mustang to increase torque, providing a more thrilling driving experience.

The 5.0-litre V8 engine is still an option, though it has been significantly reworked to provide more power on the Mustang GT. The result yields robust low-end torque, improved fuel-efficiency, and high-rpm power.

Along with a revamped engine lineup, a new 10-speed automatic transmission arguably provides the best automatic transmission driving in the history of the Mustang — with improved responsiveness and overall performance.

The iconic Mustang will make available Ford’s first 12-inch all-digital LCD screen in its dashboard. To put that into perspective, the new LCD is nearly the size of Apple’s 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

Other new technology features include:

  • Personalized instrument cluster, suspension, and steering preferences
  • Customizable engine note
  • Pre-Collision Assist with pedestrian detection, distance alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist and Driver Alert System
