The next logical step for the Ford F-150 will be into the hybrid world. Ford plans to make the F-150 Hybrid available by 2020, along with the hybrid version of the Mustang. With the overwhelming success of the EcoBoost® engine, Ford plans to expands its horizons, putting hybrid technology in two of its most iconic vehicles.
Ideally, Ford believes the F-150 Hybrid would be able to work like a generator at a job site. If a farmer ventures a few miles into a field, the F-150 would be able to act as an electrical source while providing powerful towing and hauling capability.
One of the most obvious benefits of hybrid technology is a reduction in carbon footprint. Most don’t realize that hybrid vehicles can actually provide more power and a more engaging driving experience.
A Hybrid Ford F-150 could drastically change the direction of the pickup truck as we know it. Ford choosing to highlight the F-150 and Mustang, two of the most visible, popular vehicles in the lineup, shows that they’re serious about this awesome technology!
Ford also announced that it will make a plug-in hybrid version of the Transit available to the European market in 2019.
The Hybrid Mustang is expected to get more low-end torque with a hybrid powertrain. The smaller EcoBoost® engine will be able to kick out more torque to deliver performance that closely resembles the current V8 Mustang.
The Ford F-150 Hybrid will be sold in Canada, the U.S., and the Middle East. With the addition of the Ford Transit plug-in hybrid, Ford looks to be making a push into the commercial truck market.
