Quick-lube shops can change your oil, but they can't guarantee it's done right for your Ford, with the exact parts and expertise your warranty requires. At Sherwood Ford, our factory-trained, certified technicians use manufacturer-recommended oil and genuine Motorcraft® parts for your vehicle, whether that's conventional, semi-synthetic, full synthetic, or diesel — so your factory warranty stays protected. Every visit goes beyond the oil change with a full check of your lights, brakes, fluids, and hoses, the kind of dealership-level care Sherwood Park, Edmonton, and area drivers trust that a 20-minute quick-lube stop can't match. Need it even easier? Ask about our complimentary Valet pickup and delivery, and we'll come to you.
Our factory-trained and certified mechanics are experienced with all types of oil changes for Ford vehicles, from diesel to sports cars, SUVs, they have seen it all! That includes all the different types of oil changes. Sherwood Ford can change the oil of your Ford vehicle whether you are in Sherwood Park or Strathcona County or the surrounding areas of Edmonton, Ardrossan, and St. Albert, Canada
If you own a diesel vehicle like an F-250 or another vehicle, then your vehicle requires special diesel engine oil. Sherwood Ford has you covered! We also carry conventional engine oil, this is petroleum-based engine oil that can perform well in your engine, but does require more frequent changing than semi-synthetic or full synthetic oil.
Semi-synthetic and full synthetic oils are actually required in some newer Ford vehicles as they provide superior performance and longevity. Check your Ford Owners Manual for the specific type of engine oil recommended.
We also recommend these types of synthetic oil for other vehicles as well. The breakdown is slower than conventional engine oil as they have been specially formulated to perform longer in extreme temperatures while maintaining proper viscosity. No matter what type of vehicle you have, Sherwood Ford has the right engine oil and filter for your vehicle!
How often should I change my oil?
While the old "every 5,000 km" rule is largely outdated, standard intervals depend on your oil type. Conventional oil typically needs changing every 5,000 to 8,000km, while synthetic oils can last between 10,000 to 15,000 km.
What is the difference between synthetic and regular oil?
Regular (conventional) oil is a basic petroleum derivative suited for simpler engines. Synthetic oil is artificially engineered, offering better performance, longer lifespans, and superior protection in extreme temperatures.
How much does an oil change cost?
An average oil change using the Ford pacakge The Works typically start from $109.95. This price will vary depending on your vehicle's make, the amount of oil required, and whether you use synthetic or conventional oil.
What does an oil change service include?
Beyond just draining the old fluid, a standard service usually involves replacing the oil filter and often includes topping off essential fluids, checking tire pressure, and a basic vehicle inspection.
How can I check my engine oil myself?
To check your oil, park on a level surface, wait five minutes for the engine to cool, and pull out the dipstick. Wipe it clean, reinsert it, and pull it out again. The oil level should sit between the marked lines, and it should look somewhat translucent.
What are the warning signs that I need an oil change?
Telltale signs include the dashboard "Oil Change Required" light, darker and grittier oil on your dipstick, an oily burning smell in the cabin, or the engine sounding louder and rougher than usual.
What happens if I delay an oil change?
If you wait too long, old, sludgy oil loses its ability to lubricate. This causes metal engine parts to grind against each other, which can result in overheating, permanent motor damage, and catastrophic repair bills.
Consult your vehicle's specific owner's manual to find the exact manufacturer guidelines for your vehicle.
