Sherwood Ford Community Event Recap for May and June 2019

There’s nothing better to our Sherwood Ford team than being able to support the organizations and foundations that share our community – the Edmonton area can only go so far as its residents are able to take it, and in that regard, we’re truly fortunate to be surrounded by so many amazing people that are willing to go the extra mile every day.

Check out our Sherwood Ford Community Event Recap for May and June 2019 to see who we were able to partner with once the weather began to clear and warm up!

Team Inch by Inch – MS Bike, Leduc to Camrose

In an effort to raise funds to combat the dangers of Multiple Sclerosis, Krysta Brown-Inch’s biking team rode from Leduc to Camrose to increase awareness and raise money for MS research and prevention. It was a rousing success, as they were able to raise over $30,000 for the MS Society of Canada – we’re very proud of Krysta and her team and were fortunate to be able to sponsor them!

Melissa Slays MS – Edmonton MS Walk

MS prevention is a cause that’s very important to us, as Alberta has the highest rate of the disease in all of Canada, affecting over 14,000 of our provincial neighbors, two-thirds of which are women. That’s why we doubled up on our sponsorships in the last couple months – during the Edmonton MS walk we partnered with Melissa Slays MS to help increase even more awareness.

Racing for A Cure with Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation

Last Saturday (June 22) we had the privilege of supporting the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation for Racing For A Cure. David from Sherwood Ford, along with Jay Downton (president of OilersNation), escorted Hayden (a patient at Stollery) to the Alberta Legislative Grounds for a day that we’re sure he’ll never forget!

Hayden is one of the strongest young dudes we’ve ever met – he’s currently battling Type 1 Diabetes and shown great resolve and determination in doing so – we couldn’t be more proud of him and are honoured to have had the chance to hang out!

Grant's Guys walking team at Brain Tumour Foundation Edmonton Walk/Run

Brain Tumour Foundation Walk / Run

To support the Brain Tumour Foundation in its annual Edmonton Walk/Run, we sponsored the Grant’s Guys team, good friends of our dealership. An estimated 55,000 Canadians live with brain tumours, which are unpredictable in their effects but bad news across the board; there is no cure, but the power of hope, support and research may one day lead us to one. Over 750 participants took part in the Walk/Run, which raised over $116,000!

22nd Annual Audrey Poitras Golf Tournament

Legends Golf and Country Club is home to an annual golf tournament for the Metis Nation of Alberta that we were able to sponsor this time around – the first person to get a hole-in-one had the chance to win a brand-new Mustang! Sadly, it was windy that day, so nobody ended up bringing the iconic muscle car home, but it was a fun-filled day for all involved. Always next year!

Speaking of the Ford Mustang – Have you heard about the new Shelby GT500?

Sherwood Park Phoenix U15 Boys and Girls Soccer Teams

Over in the sports world, we’re proud to sponsor the Sherwood Park Phoenix boys and girls’ soccer teams; the girls came in second in their league this season, missing out on the title by only one point – they did, however, lead the league in goals against average, and will be coming back stronger than ever next year. We’re excited to see what both teams in the Sherwood Park District Soccer Association can do, and wish them all the best!
