What’s new for the 2023 Ford Mustang?

Presumed new features for the upcoming 2023 Ford Mustang

A model type as shrouded in mysticism as the Ford Mustang is bound to have rumours surrounding it, but with recent news from a LinkedIn job posting, we’re getting a pretty staggering first look at what the future for the Mustang S650 lineup might hold. The posting, revolving around Wind/Road Noise and Air Leakage improvements for the model, hints at a more aerodynamic, efficient and serene Mustang experience, quite a welcome addition!

Still, there’s more that our Sherwood Ford team was able to dig up – join us below as we show you some of the best presumed new features for the upcoming 2023 Ford Mustang!

Will the 2023 Ford Mustang be available in a four-door configuration?

This is definitely one of the top new developments for the 2023 Mustang line; though everything is left to speculation for now, there’s a good chance that we could see the new Mustang arrive with a longer wheelbase, four doors, and a sloping, aerodynamic roof, setting it up as a firm competitor for established European favourites like the Audi A7 and Porsche Panamera.

We’ve also heard talk that this Mustang might also offer a turbocharged V8 engine, which would be an astounding new addition to a vehicle that’s already iconic in its own right. It’s yet to be determined what such an engine might look like, but in any event, we’re definitely looking forward to seeing it in action.

CD6 Modular Platform

Ford will likely base the redesigned Mustang on the CD6 platform that debuted in the 2020 Ford Explorer.  Interestingly, of the five new platforms Ford revealed in 2018, there’s no separate platform for sports cars.  It’s anticipated Ford will be able to integrate hybrid and all-wheel-drive systems using the CD6 modular platform.
