Making a GIANT difference in the lives of furry friends is the goal of Sherwood Ford’s “Drive One” and Adopt-A-Pet event throughout March 2017.  The dealership in Sherwood Park, Alberta hopes to raise thousands of dollars and find new forever homes for animals waiting for adoption at the Edmonton Humane Society.

Guests are invited to visit Sherwood Ford and help with a charity fundraiser throughout March 2017.  All that’s needed is to test drive a new or preowned vehicle for furry friends at the Edmonton Humane Society. $10 will be donated from every test drive in support of EHS. Event Planning and Donor Relations Coordinator Sarah Batchelor and Program Administrator Angie Fielden met with David van der Leek from Sherwood Ford.

Researching the type of pet most suitable to your family

Pet adoption is a big commitment. You’re encouraged to spend considerable time thinking about and researching the type of pet most suitable to your family. Most breeds have their own characteristic traits and specific needs which need to be considered.  Angie discusses with David some important things to think about before adopting a pet.

Adopt-A-Pet Day Saturday March 25th, 2017

You can adopt a furry friend and give a dog or a cat a new forever home by visiting Sherwood Ford March 25th.  Adopt-A-Pet day runs from 11am until 4pm, or simply visit the Edmonton Humane Society. You can also use the current ‘adoptions & admissions’ section of the EHS website to browse the available pets.  David and Sarah go over what to expect during Adopt-A-pet day at the dealership.

There are other ways to support the Edmonton Humane Society for those unable to adopt. Shelter animals need love, walks and socialization. The best way to receive that is through the hundreds of volunteers who provide 4 hours of their time on a monthly basis. Trained staff at the Edmonton Humane Society provide the medical care, behavioural training and feeding of the animals.

Volunteers can quickly sign up on the EHS Website. There are approximately 12 hundred volunteers, but EHS is always looking for more who can give their time and love to animals in need.
