WE Scare Hunger 2016

WE Scare Hunger 2016

Hunger is a supervillain who makes life harder for hundreds of residents throughout Strathcona County. For a child struggling with hunger, one meal could mean the difference between having the energy to succeed in school and failing a test, or between staying healthy and getting sick.

WE Scare Hunger 2016

Sherwood Ford has enrolled with Ford Canada on a local community initiative dedicated to collecting non-perishable food items and cash donations to support the Strathcona Food Bank and raise awareness of local hunger. Together with Lakeland Ridge School, Sherwood Park Crusaders and the Sherwood Park News, we hope to make a GIANT difference!

We’re passionate about enriching our local community and are committed with local partners to raise donations to help end local hunger.  Earlier this year in March Sherwood Ford helped to collect and donate over 2 thousand pounds of food to Strathcona Food Bank. Strathcona County Mayor Roxanne Carr knows some residents are struggling and encourages everyone who can help to volunteer and donate! Listen to her message in the video below as she addressed the Sherwood Park & District Chamber of Commerce September 21st.

Our goal for the WE Scare Hunger 2016 Food Drive?  Let’s double that number to 4 thousand pounds!

WE Scare Hunger 2016

The timeline for the WE Scare Hunger Food Drive is October 1st to 31st with donations dropped off at the dealership and with our community partner locations.  We’ll be promoting the Food Drive through local media coverage and posters around Sherwood Park.  To encourage participation, everyone who donates will receive a ballot entered into a contest with a grand prize for two premium tickets to see the Oilers Play at Rogers Place, Row 13 centre ice and second place prize 1:24 Metal Replica Ford F-150.

We’ll also be utilizing Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and our website to promote the food drive with the hashtags #WeScareHunger and #SPFoodDrive.  Sherwood Ford will take care of collecting donations from partners, storage of donations at the dealership and delivery the first week of November to the Strathcona Food Bank.  Judy Grey, Chairperson of the Food Bank Board of Directors, says the demand is up 50% from last year, this food drive is very welcome news.

Together with your help, we hope you’ll join us on our WE Scare Hunger 2016 mission to raise locally 2 thousand pounds of food towards the total Ford goal of 275 thousand pounds nationwide.  Are you ready to join the fun and stand up to hunger with us?  It’s super easy by sending us a quick email and accept the challenge to become a hunger hero!
