Engine and Powertrain
The 2018 Ford Explorer is standard equipped with a 290-Horsepower 3.5-Litre V-6 and an available turbocharged 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 with 280-Horsepower. The transmission for both regardless of trim level is a 6-speed SelectShift® Automatic. Power is delivered to the standard front-wheel drive system or an optional Intelligent 4WD powertrain. The standard engine on the 2018 Ford Expedition is a 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 that makes between 375-400-Horsepower depending on trim level. It’s paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift® capability and tow-haul mode. Both vehicles feature an available Intelligent 4WD for improved performance to tackle Edmonton inclement weather.
